Ready and Resilient (R2) gives people a foundation to build and sustain personal readiness and resilience. R2 provides training and education resources to active-duty military, reservists, guard members, Family members and DA Civilians at 32 R2 Performance Centers Army-wide. Strengthening Soldiers and enhancing personal readiness offers the greatest opportunity to increase unit cohesion and achieve positive outcomes.

What is a Master Resilience Trainer (MRT)?
An MRT is a Soldier who completes the Master Resilience Training Course (MRTC) by learning and teaching resiliency and performance-enhancing skills, such as goal setting, energy management, emotion awareness and regulation, impulse control, de-catastrophizing, putting it in perspective, effective communication, challenging negative beliefs, problem solving and Real-Time Resilience.
What is a Master Resilience Trainer-Performance Expert (MRT-PE)?
R2 MRT-PEs are contractors who have graduate degrees in performance, sports and positive psychology and more than 200 hours of advanced training to achieve MRT Level 4 certification. MRT-PEs have trained more than 45,000 MRTs to conduct resilience training at the unit level and serve as advisers to commanders.
What does the Master Resilience Training Course (MRTC) provide?
The MRTC helps Soldiers enhance their leadership and effectiveness, and learn how to teach resilience skills to Soldiers, Family members and DA Civilians. Do you have any evidence resilience training is effective?
Army studies that assessed the effectiveness of the program found that units that use their Master Resilience Trainer (MRT) are more likely to have a lower rate of mental help problem diagnoses in Soldiers. Over time, the units with MRTs had significantly fewer substance misuse diagnoses (drug and alcohol misuse) and diagnoses of mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress, compared with units without MRTs.
Why are R2 Performance Centers a valuable tool in achieving a more resilient force?
R2 Performance Centers offer customized resilience and performance enhancement training to help build resilient leaders and Soldiers who can overcome and recover from everyday stressors and major life events, adapt to change and thrive under new conditions.
How do resilience skills/training impact Army readiness?
Soldiers who use performance and resilience skills deliberately and consistently have enhanced personal readiness, resilience and optimized performance leading to greater unit and mission readiness.
What other type of training is offered through R2PCs?
In addition to the Master Resilience Training Course (MRTC), R2 Performance Centers give units performance-enhancing training such as Energy Management, Mindfulness and Goal Setting, the ENGAGE Skill Training and training to build unit cohesion, such as the Squad Leader Development Course and Team Building.
